Fletcher passed away in Campbell, CA after a lengthy illness at the age of 82. He was born in Homer, Louisiana and moved to Gilroy in 1963 after being stationed at Fort Ord military base while serving in the United States Army both before and after serving overseas in Korea.

Before his service, Fletcher earned his teaching degree at Louisiana Tech and San Jose State Universities. He came to Gilroy and began his teaching career at Brownell Jr. High School and South Valley Jr. High School where he retired in 1984. Fletcher met and married Rita Hardin Williams in 1964 and they made Gilroy their permanent home. Fletcher loved and appreciated the Gilroy community and its history.

He is survived by his daughter, Dana Williams Eclarin (Johnny) and grandson, Trevor all of Gilroy, and granddaughter, Megan Adragna (Ashton) of Hollister. Fletcher was excited and awaiting the upcoming birth of Megan and Ashton's baby boy. He is also survived by nephew, Murray (Melba) Shoemaker of Crowville, LA and brother- in-law, Bob (Delia) Hardin of Maysville, GA. Fletcher is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
We cannot forget his loyal and devoted friends of over 50 years : Sal & Annie Tomasello and Family, Ray & Sharon Avina and Family, Kabo Orimoto, Maria Skoczylas, Lorraine Gonzales, Grace Masuda, and Helen (Taffy) Holt and Family. "Friends are God's way of taking care of us"

Dana and Johnny would also like to thank Fletcher's caretakers for their support as well as VA Palo Alto, and the neighbors of Cypress Ct. both past and present. He was preceded in death by his devoted, loving wife Rita in 2010.
