Ernesto Savella Somera, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Gilroy surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 12:12pm. Ernesto was born in Cabugao lIocus Sur, PI. He was the son of Leocadio and Purficacion Somera. He lived majority of his life in Gilroy, CA.

He is survived by his wife, Corazon and his 6 children, his eldest daughter Wendy Plumley and her husband Dennis of Salinas, his eldest son, Ernesto Somera Jr. and Alexandria Somera of Gilroy, his youngest son, Mark Somera and fiancé Charrise Angeles of San Jose, his daughter Michel Arbarquez, daughter Joy Arbarquez, and son Redson Arbarquez, all of Gilroy. Ernesto also leaves behind his 10 grandchildren, Christa, Jessica, Kayla, Darren, Christopher, Suzette, Chloe, Cameron, Misha, and Rafael. He is also survived by his only sister, Adoracion Juan.

Ernesto immigrated from the Philippines and was part of a group of friends that called themselves the "Spirit of 62". He worked very hard for his family as a field worker, worked at Firestone, and ultimately ended up retiring from a long career at IBM. He enjoyed his retirement cooking, loved working in his garden, and enjoyed time with his family. He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.
