It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of Ernest Fortino. He was born in the Calabria region of Italy in 1936. At the age of 86, Ernest passed away in the early morning on July 9th, 2022, in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Ernest Fortino was born and raised in a winemaking family in Southern Italy. He worked hard with his family, and in his free time, he fell in love with the accordion. His love of music pushed him to play in a band in his youth.

After finishing his education in Italy, Ernest moved to France. He worked in France for a few years while he saved his money to move to the United States. Once Ernest made his way here, he began working toward his American Dream. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Marie. Together they had two wonderful children, Gino and Teri Fortino, and they all built the Fortino Winery together.

The Fortino Winery is now celebrating its 52nd year open. For half of a century, he touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed. Ernest Fortino will be remembered for his hard work, passionate nature, and unending devotion to his family.
