Ernest Corona was born February 24, 1932 in Somerton, Arizona and passed peacefully on April 26 in Seaside, CA.

In 1950, Ernest (Ernie) graduated from Gilroy High School where he was active in sports with track being his favorite. After graduation, Ernie joined the Army serving in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. After his tour, he held a management position at Western Union for many years while also taking great pride in serving as a police officer in the San Jose Police Auxiliary.  He left Western Union to join his three brothers (Jack, Toby, and Art) in the furniture business in Monterey County. He enjoyed building this business and serving customers. He retired in 2008.

Ernie appreciated fancy cars, motorcycles and airplanes which he loved flying over his parent's Gilroy ranch to wave hello. In his later years, he learned to cook and enjoyed helping make holiday meals. Ernie's philosophy was to do things in order, handling each situation 'step by step' and he advised everyone to do the same.

Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Ramon and Nieves, and siblings Beatrice, Jack, Toby, Ofelia (Artana), Arthur and Alfred. He is survived by siblings Manuel, Ruth (Martinez), Gloria (Ballard), Norma (Quackenbush), Alice (Jimenez) and Chuck, along with many nieces and nephews. His niece and nephew, Kathy and Raymond Corona, provided tender, loving care in his final years.

Ernie was a sweet, compassionate, caring man that will be sincerely missed.

Funeral Services on May 5, 2022 at 10:30 am. Chapel opens at 9:30 am at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4 ^th Street, Gilroy, CA 95020.
