Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Erasmo "Eddie" Alejo, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2020. He was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on November 25, 1939.
Eddie Immigrated to the United States with his father at the age of 9, helping his father work in the agriculture contracting field. This is where Eddie's journey began; from here he would move to Los Angeles, Ca as a young boy to continue working, helping his father financially. Later on, they would move North to Fresno, Greenfield, San Juan Bautista and eventually to Watsonville where his father made their permanent home and endured in the agriculture contracting field.Eddie eventually found himself moving to Gilroy, CA where he made his home and started a family while pursuing a trade in the concrete construction field.
Eddie married Jennie Hernandez and had four children together Elizabeth, Eddie, Erasmo, Jr. and Johnny Alejo.
Later in life, Eddie met and married Stella Gonzalez in 1981, who had 3 children Uvaldo, Jr., Letty, and Leo Campos. They had 2 children together, Isabel and Crystal Alejo. They relocated to Los Banos to make this town their new home. They had a long and beautiful marriage and Stella was always caring and loving Eddie until his passing day.
Eddie had a liking for the concrete trade and eventually obtained his Concrete Contractors License in 1978. Eddie was a successful hard working man and was liked by all his customers for his passion and honest business practices. Eddie also obtained his Business License and owned and operated Eddie's Place Tavern at the intersection of Watsonville Road and Hecker Pass Highway in Gilroy from 1981 to 1990. Eddie ran Alejo Concrete Construction all the way to his retirement at the age of 75.
Eddie leaves behind 9 children, 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who loved and enjoyed each other's company all of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Socorro, Vicente, Sylvia, Albert , Ralph and Joshua Alejo and reuniting in Heaven with his Parents Tomas and Isabel , Irma, Consuelo, Gilbert, Tomas and Step Mother Margarita Alejo.
Eddie had a passion and loved to work, enjoyed having a drink and socializing with all his friends, old and new and also taking long country drives with his sons. He took pride in his home and could be found maintaining it daily. He was a joy to be around, telling endless stories, making everyone around him laugh and smile. He was loved by many. Nothing pleased Eddie more than being around his family. He was active daily in his later years, walking everyday around his home in Los Banos. He was a man of faith and devoted to his family. Eddie had a way of listening, understanding, wisdom and unconditional love. He will be dearly missed by all. We love you Dad!
Visitation will be held at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy with burial to follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, Watsonville, CA.
