Obituary

We lost a wonderful woman February 22nd. Eileen Carter was born in Massachusetts in 1921, one of six children. After World War II, she moved to California to attend San Jose State College where she studied Social Work. There she met her brother's best friend, Robert Barret. Bob and Eileen were married in 1949 at Stanford University. They managed to finish their education while both working at Agnews State Hospital 48 hours per week and attending school full time.

After a few years of teaching in small towns in the Central Valley, they moved to Gilroy in 1958, where Bob taught at Gilroy High. Eileen worked as a Social Worker for Santa Clara County, working with those in need of a helping hand. She also volunteered with several organizations in Gilroy. Kristine and Suzanne were so very lucky to have been born to Bob and Eileen!

Eileen loved to read, garden, participate in American Association of University Women and Unitarian Fellowship. She loved life and always saw the beauty and best in everything and everyone. But mostly, she loved her family and friends. She is survived by Suzanne (and Victor), as well as her two grandchildren, Nathan Russell (and Summer) and Megan Russell, and her two Great-Grandchildren, Kai Barret Russell and Jake Adam Russell and her sister Doris Carter.

Cheers to Eileen, Mom, Grandma, GiGi.
