Egidio Alves passed away peacefully on June 24, 2018 in San Jose, California at the age of 91. Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, followed by internment at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy, California.

Born on September 1, 1926 in Sao Jorge, Azores to Jose and Eugenia Alves, He immigrated to the United States with his wife and daughter in 1957, settling in San Jose, then in Gilroy. Egidio was a dairyman for most of his life.

Egidio was an active member of the Alianca Jorgense, Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, Our Lady of Fatima, and LusoAmerican Fraternal Organization.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Laudelinda; daughter Eugenia (Michael) Coffman, and grandchildren Melanie (Joe) Gularte and David (Megan Kelly) Coffman. Egidio was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eugenia Alves, brother Albano Rebeiro Alves, and sisters Maria do Espirito Santo Flores and Leticia Batista.
