Edward L. Cooke, born July 15, 1929 in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away June 18, 2018 in Gilroy, CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Lester Cooke. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Georgia Tanaka-Cooke; three daughters from his previous marriage, Sandra Closser, Karen Cooke and Cynthia Lyon as well as numerous grandchildren.

Edward enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1953, serving aboard the U.S.S. Midway CVA-41 and was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal with European Clasp. After an honorable discharge and graduating from San Jose State University, Edward worked first for the  San Jose Water Company and then for the State of California for over 25 years as an engineer for the department of water resources. He was also a lifetime member of the Sierra Club.
