Earl Haynes , born August 18, 1934, left us on March 2, 2024 at age 89. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vivien (Rickards) Haynes, and his son, Dan Haynes of Lodi. His parents were Roy and Iva Haynes of Gilroy, California where he grew up and attended school. In 1951 Earl enlisted in the USS Navy and went aboard the USS Whetstone (LSD27) and became a veteran of the Korean War. In 1955 he re-enlisted and was sent to Rough and Ready Island, Port of Stockton for Shore Duty. A friend introduced him to Vivien. That enlistment ended n 1959 when he decided not to re-inlist for atomic submarine duty. As a civilian he worked for Nob Kishida as a truck drive and then Super Mold/Intercole in Lodi and Carando Machine Works, Stockton, as a machinist, until retirement April 1, 2000. He joined the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department STARS program and enjoyed the volunteer work for 13 years.
In addition to being a machinist and STARS volunteer, in 1975 he bought a vineyard near Acampo and farmed it for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed the outdoors work of farming
