With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Mae Sosa on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Gilroy, California, following a brief illness. She was 80 years old. Doris was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother—whose warmth and kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

Born in Cato, Wisconsin, to Joe and Evelyn Lemberger, Doris moved with her family to Gilroy in 1958. She attended Gilroy High School for a year before graduating from Palma High School in Salinas in 1962 and also attended San Jose State. She married Ken Sosa in 1965 and they had two sons over the following four years.

Doris had a passion for helping others, the Arts, cooking and entertaining, a zest for travel, and a deep appreciation for family traditions—especially the yearly trips to Yosemite with her family. Her adventurous spirit took her across the globe to places like England, Hong Kong, Spain, Thailand, Greece, and Turkey. Doris' love of research and reading inspired a generation of children and young adults as a school Librarian.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years, Ken Sosa of Gilroy; her cherished sons Jeff (Jennifer) Sosa of Aptos and Chris Sosa of West Hollywood; and her treasured grandchildren—Matthew Sosa of San Diego, Michelle Sosa of San Francisco, Michael Sosa of Morgan Hill, and Mark Sosa of San Jose. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her sisters: Laverne (Dwayne) Harms and Joanne Lemberger of Ridgecrest, Maryann Wilson of Prunedale, Betty (Nestor) Perez of Gilroy, Lois (Dave) Theobald of Fairfield, and Cathy (Jeff) Lemberger of Koloa, HI.

Doris is now reunited with her beloved parents, Joe and Evelyn Lemberger, her brothers Leroy and Jim Lemberger and her sisters Jane Nieckula and Margie Lemberger.

Doris's beautiful soul, radiant smile and the love she shared so freely will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
