IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Calhoun
Anderson
June 3, 1949 – July 17, 2022
Doris Ann (Smith) Calhoun Anderson (73) of Gilroy, CA died peacefully under hospice care after bravely battling cancer for several years.
Doris was born to Clyde and Julia Smith in Washington state. They were a military family and that was the first of many places Doris and her younger sister Sandene would call home during their lifetimes. They settled in Marina, CA when she was young. Later they moved to Alameda where she graduated from high school.
Doris was well known for her intellect and worked in several professions while raising her children. She began with banking and went on to manage inventory for a building supply company before becoming a technical writer. She was an avid reader, adored her dogs, and supported her local food bank.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sandene Pinkerton.
Doris is survived by her husband, Bob Anderson; her son Danny Calhoun and his wife Alyson; her daughter Nikki; her step-daughter Stacy; her grandchildren Dillon, Lillie and Mason; her nieces Jennifer and Kim; many longtime family friends, especially the Tomlinson and Overton families; and neighborhood friends of recent years.
If you feel called to express your love with a gift, in lieu of flowers, Doris' family asks that you contribute to your local food pantry.
There will be a gathering to celebrate her life in Pacific Grove on the 6th of October. The gathering will begin at the beach and finish with lunch in a local restaurant. If you wish to attend, please email Danny at Danny.jay.calhoun@gmail.com .
