Dora M. Hutchings passed away on June 06, 2025, In Gilroy, California. Dora was born in Hollister, CA. March 01, 1947, to Frank and Emma Hutchings. She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings Dell, Virginia, Frank, Bea, and Ben, husband Michael Escobedo, and her son D. Andrew Hutchings. She is survived by her daughter, Mecca Ann Hutchings, grandson, Marshall Hutchings, granddaughter, Lily Becerra, her sister Louise, and many nieces, and nephews, and her cat "Kitty."
Dora moved to Gilroy, upon graduating from Hollister High School, to work for Gilroy Foods. She worked at Gilroy Foods approximately 20 years. After Gilroy Foods she attended Gavilan College and received an AA degree in Business and a minor in journalism. Upon completion of college she worked as a librarian and eventually retired from there. She worked odd jobs, cleaning my godmother's home, maintaining the grounds including cutting the grass at her apartment complex and three others. She eventually became a nanny for Gobin and Arushie Oberoi. She worked to help raise them until they turned approximately 18 years old. She traveled to India with the family on vacation and saw the Taj Mahal. She remained friends with the Oberoi family after the twins went away to college.
Dora volunteered for several places like the police department, St. Joseph's, and the Salvation Army. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, fishing with her daughter, traveling, going to Pismo beach, and going to the casino in Reno at least once a year on vacation. Her favorite singers were Elvis Presley, Cher, and LeAnn Rimes.
Those that knew Dora she could be feisty but yet witty woman with a big heart, infectious smile, and always willing to give. She was a very good cook and her salsa and tamales were to die for. She shared all her extra food with family friends, and her neighbors.
A gravesite service will take place on July 26, 2025 @11am, located at the Los Banos Cemetery, 16575 Canter Ave, Los Banos, California 93635. She will be laid to rest with her parents, and son.
