IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald George
Otterson
December 6, 1927 – December 23, 2017
Donald George Otterson passed away on December 23rd in Sacramento, shortly after his 90th birthday. Don was born in Willows, CA on December 6, 1927, to Bert and Dorothy Otterson. He was the youngest of nine children, including Louise, Lee, Lucille, Dorothy, Wayne, Amy, Lila and Nina. Don was married to Rose Ann McCoy Otterson for 66 years and was preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen Otterson. He is survived by his wife and other children Carrie Nishikawa, Jim Otterson and Patty Filice. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kris) Kinnings, Mike Nishikawa, Doreen (Alex) Filice Gabel, and Montina Filice, as well as his great-grandchildren Malia and Kaden Kinnings.
Don proudly served in the Army as a draftsman and then attended college on the GI bill. He loved his primary career as a rancher on the family ranch in Willows, and also enjoyed his second career as a draftsman for the County of Sacramento. A lifelong learner, Don was a longtime pilot and an avid history buff interested particularly in the Civil War, World War II and Otterson family history. His biggest love has always been Rose Ann and his family, and he will be sincerely missed.
A memorial service will be held February 10th at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1300 N Street in Sacramento beginning at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the SPCA.
