Obituary

Don Velasco died suddenly on March 18th, 2015, at the age of 80.
Don was born on January 20th, 1935, in Fresno, California. He grew up in Firebaugh, California and graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1953. He joined the army and served from 1955-1957. He married his wife Karen on February 7th, 1959.
Don worked as an accountant for Westinghouse in Sunnyvale for 31 years, then went on to work for Litton until his retirement at age 77.
Don and Karen moved to San Martin in 1970 to raise their children in a quiet community. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and children, Dana (John) Edgar, Tim (Kris) Velasco, and Dan Velasco. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Josh, Ben, Kyle, Colin, Katy, and Calvin. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Galindo, father, Manuel Velasco, brother, Manuel, and sisters Lucy and Helen. He is survived by his brother, Jamie Velasco.
He will be remembered as someone who would do anything for his family. Don wrote a memoir called "My Memories of Firebaugh" that he was happy to share with friends and family. Don enjoyed walking and running and did the Mercury News 10K race over 10 times.
Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2015, from 10:30 to 11:30 with his Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th St., Gilroy, CA. Burial will take place at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine, CA on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 11:30 A.M.
