Obituary

Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, and Friend to many…we all lost her much too early. Every day we miss her hugs, her smiles, and the twinkle in her eyes. An active member of the local community, Diana was known by many who walked dogs at Bear Ranch early every morning. A daily walker and hiker she was known to head out with friends and their dogs on weekend mornings for long hikes in the local hills of South County. This was often followed up by a return visit to the hills in the afternoon for another long ride on horseback. An avid horsewoman from her teenage years, Diana was involved as past-president of San Martin Horseman's Association (SMHA) and enjoyed participating in competitive trail and endurance riding. She and her husband were also members of the Morgan Hillbillies square dancing group. Other interests included gardening and traveling both locally and abroad whenever she could break away. Always striving to learn and expand her education, Diana earned her Associate Arts Degree in Business at Gavilan College in her fifties.

Working full-time at Anritsu in Morgan Hill as an Export Import Analyst, Diana recently achieved her 20-year mark as a dedicated employee. Past careers included lengthy terms as a local Realtor, work at Redlake Corporation in Morgan Hill, an administrative assistant with Morgan Hill Unified School District and an employee at Syntex Corporation in Palo Alto.

Diana is survived by her husband Robert, daughter and son-in-law Toni and Eric Whedon and their two children Jake and Katelyn. She is also survived by her two older sisters Mary McTaggart of Redwood City and Catherine Woolworth of Morgan Hill. Diana passed away at her home in San Martin with her husband and daughter by her side after a short but vicious battle with leukemia. We are certain that she is now riding daily on her favorite horse Windy with her riding buddy Mary Ramsay, caring for animals and visiting with friends and family who have already passed.

A Memorial Mass will be held October 8, 2014 at 7:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Chapel in Gilroy. A reception to celebrate her fulfilling, adventurous life will be held for all who knew Diana and have stories to share at the Mt. Madonna Amphitheater on October 11, 2014 beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to St. Joseph's Family Center at stjosephsgilroy.org, or to Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter (FOSMAS) at P.O. Box 71, Morgan Hill, CA 95038-0071. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and home aides of Kaiser Foundations Santa Teresa Hospital and Hospice Care for their caring, kindness and comfort while assisting in the care of the one who always cared for us.
