Craig Varnum McKinna, 72, of Morgan Hill, CA passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was predeceased by his parents. Craig was born in Oakland, CA and spent his formative years in this county.
Craig served as a dental technician in the US Coast Guard from 1962 -1966 (Petty Officer, First Class), and met the love of his life and future wife, Jane, in New York.
Craig worked in the plumbing industry for over 45 years, and successfully operated his own company, CPI, for over 30 years, building a reputation for his expertise, professionalism, integrity, and loyalty to employees and customers alike. Many became friends, as well.
Craig was happiest outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature and company of friends and loved ones. Craig will be remembered as a loving husband, generous, loyal friend, and a humble person. He was an amazing and patient father who took time to listen and teach. His dry sense of humor, quiet presence, and keen intelligence will be greatly missed.
Craig's spirit lives on in the lives of his beloved wife, Jane, daughter Kimberly (McKinna) Gonsalves and son-in-law Doug Gonsalves, grandchildren Matthew & Lauren Gonsalves.
In lieu of flowers, we believe Craig would hope that you take a moment to appreciate the beauty in life and share it with someone you love, or donate to the Humane Society, Doctors Without Borders or Guide Dogs For The Blind.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 11th at 1O:30am, St. John the Divine, 17740 Peak Ave, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.
