Obituary

Corryn Crosby-Muilenburg passed away July 13, 2016 at UCSF Medical Center she was 66 years old.

Corryn was born in Provo, Utah to Arthur and Iris Crosby. She was the eldest of 5 siblings. Her childhood was spent in the Desert heat as she lived in Las Vegas, St. George, and Carson City, keeping both eyes on her younger siblings! She was a desert baby who loved the dry heat!

Her passion was knowledge and family. The diversity of her education showcases her thirst for knowledge and a driving need to help people. She received her BA in Russian History in 1971 from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Then in 1974 she completed her first Masters – a MA in Library Science from the University of Denver. She followed that up in 1982 with another Masters – MS in Marriage and Family Counseling in 1982 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her professional passion was working in academia at the collegiate level. She was a faculty member (library faculty) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1973-1984. In 1984, she accepted a faculty position (library faculty) at California State University – Humboldt in Arcata, California. She reached full professor (full librarian) and retired in 2010.

In Arcata, she met the love of her life Harley Muilenburg. They were married after a whirlwind courtship in 1987– it may have been Harley's 3 kids that sealed the deal for Corryn. She always wanted a family. If anyone asked if she had kids – she always said yes! She was each of her 'kids' biggest supporters cheering for them all.

In 2015, Corryn and Harley moved to Gilroy, California to be closer to their family in the Bay Area. She resided in Gilroy until her death.

Corryn is survived by her husband Harley; three step-children Corey Muilenburg, Jill Provencal, Steven Muilenburg; six step-grandchildren; her mother Iris Crosby-Sparks, her brother Fred Crosby, sister Rebecca Van Dahlen, brother Ben Crosby, as well as three nephews and one great nephew. She is preceded in death by her father Arthur Crosby and brother John Karl Crosby.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Edward "Boss" Prado Foundation, 35 Peebles Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA 95037 (http://edwardbossprado.org/who-we-are/).
