Cornetta Christine Staley was born on March 1, 1921, in Sheldon, WI and died peacefully at home in Gilroy on October 7, 2017.  She had lived in Whittier, CA for more than 50 years with husband, Vernon (who died in 2006). For the last 11 years, she lived at Wheeler Manor in Gilroy. She is survived by three children: Richard Staley and wife Janice from Jamestown, CA;  Linda Ashford and husband Steve, sons Ty and Kelsy and great granddaughter Addison from Gilroy; and Cheryl Melendez and husband Joe and sons, Derick, Devin and Dominic from La Habra, CA.

Mrs. Staley was a founding member of East Whittier Christian Church, and was active in the Friends Church of La Mirada and attended Foothills Church of Gilroy.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 11th at 2:00 pm at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy.
