Obituary

Conchita G. Solomon, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully in her home, with her children by her side, which she always wished for.

Her parents had nine children, seven girls and two boys, of which she was the third oldest.  She was born in Gardena, CA to her parents Fulgencio Garcia and Francisco Tostado in 1932.  From there, the family moved up the Central Coast working the fields until they moved to Gilroy, CA in 1936.  After her graduation from Gilroy High School in 1952, she received a scholarship to attend O'Connor Hospital nursing school which she graduated from in 1955.

Our mother loved to travel and see the world.  Once she received her nursing degree, she moved to San Francisco, then to Seattle, Reno, and Hawaii working at various hospitals.  She lived life at every city from surfing in Hawaii to getting dressed up for a night on the town in San Francisco.  Always talking about how she lived life to the fullest.

While working at the Presidio Hospital in San Francisco, she was approached by the Army to join.  Once again, she saw this as a means to travel the world.  She joined in 1964 and off she went to Germany for 2 years.  When our mother spoke of her time in Germany it was filled with adventures and laughs.  While in Germany, she met her husband and moved back to the states.  She was discharged from the military in 1967 and married him soon after.  She lived briefly in Texas where she had two children, Trey H. Solomon and Maria K. Solomon, and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Tyler.

After 20 years away, our mother moved back to Gilroy to re-start her life.  She worked at O'Connor Hospital as a Registered Nurse until she retired in 1998.  Our mother was a hard worker, always putting her family first.

Her son Trey married Kristie in 2002 and they were blessed with 2 handsome boys, Cameron and Kingston Solomon.  From that point, our mom was fondly known as "Beela" and her world revolved around those boys.  Everywhere she went, she spoke of how handsome, smart, and loving her boys were and always carried pictures to prove it.  She spent most of her retirement years wanting to spend every minute with them.  She loved their walks around the neighborhood exploring, playing dress-up, or family night shenanigans.  The boys always loved to see their Beela laugh.

Conchita is survived by her son Trey, her daughter-in-law Kristie Solomon, two loving grandchildren Cameron and Kingston, and her daughter Maria Solomon. She leaves behind her brothers and sisters; Eva Kretz, Virginia and Floyd Serrano, Margaret and Leo Butler, Robert "Bob" and Linda Garcia, and Rosemary Garcia.

Conchita is preceded in death by her parents Fulgencio Garcia and Francisco Tostado, her sisters Delphina Valdez and Mary Lumbreras and her brother Enrique Garcia.  God Help them….The Garcia Girls are getting back together.

Beela will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
