Obituary

Chester passed away in his sleep July 5, 2015, at the age of 98.

Chet was predeceased by his parents John and Theresa, wife Arline, son John, and brother Lawrence. He is survived by sons Thomas (Rose Lynn) and Donald, grandchildren Michelle (Joe) and Tara (CJ), and great grandchildren Valerie, Emily, Amanda, Jessica, Sofia, and Addison.

Chet was a decorated Word War II veteran, having served in both the European and Pacific Theaters with the U. S. Army.

Upon returning home to Cleveland after the war, Chet resumed his career as a machinist and tool and die maker. In 1959, a job opportunity allowed Chet to move his family to San Jose, California. In 1984, Chet moved to Gilroy with his wife, Arline and mother in law Ida. He continued to work until retiring at the age of 70.

When Chet's three sons were going through school, he and his wife Arline were very active in the PTA and Band Boosters, and became "adopted" parents to many of their son's friends.
Chet enjoyed socializing, and was well known for his neighborhood clambakes, a tradition that started in Cleveland and carried on to San Jose and Gilroy.

He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf.

Chet was truly one of those that epitomized The Greatest Generation, and will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and those fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of life will be held at his home in Gilroy on Monday, July 27th at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org).
