Obituary

Chelsea Taylor Codiga (Denby) departed for Heaven on Tuesday, February 15, with her mom and sissy by her side.  She courageously fought a year-long battle with Lupus, which eventually took her from us.

Chelsea was born at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, California and grew up in Hollister.  She attended Sacred Heart Parish School and graduated from San Benito High School in 2005.  Continuing her education, Chelsea attended Cosmetology School at Gavilan College and subsequently worked as a hairstylist. Chelsea had a love for craft projects and would make the best homemade gifts, which her family will cherish forever. She had the biggest heart, always wanted to help people, and easily put a smile on everyone's face with her sarcasm, quick wit and humor.

Chelsea was married to Anthony on February 4, 2017, and the two welcomed baby Aubrie a little over a year later.  Her favorite memories were spent vacationing in Hawaii, trips to Disneyland and attending concerts with her husband.  Her most rewarding job and happiest time of her life was being a stay-at-home mom to Aubrie, who she lovingly called Abba.  Kind and gentle, Chelsea was the most patient, caring, loving, mother a child could have.

Chelsea is survived by her loving husband Anthony Codiga, daughter Aubrie Codiga, mother Gina Thomas (Glenn), father William Denby (Susanne), sister Alli Maisonneuve (Mike), nephew Carter Maisonneuve, brother Wally Denby, grandparents Sharyn and Joe Scoppettone, Chuck and Maureen Serafini, Peg Denby, great Aunt Janice Denby, mother-in law Janette Codiga, and father-in-law Mike Codiga.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 11 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020 , on Thursday, March 3rd at 10:00 am , after which there will be a procession to Gavilan Hills Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Fortino Winery, 4525 Hecker Pass Hwy, Gilroy, CA 95020 , where we can all remember our beautiful, one-of-a-kind Chelsea.  In memory of Chelsea, please consider a donation to the Lupus Foundation of America www.lupus.org/give/ways-to-give . The family is using Expressions Floral in Gilroy for all floral arrangements for the services.
