Charlie "Chap" Gonzales, loving son, brother, father, uncle and great friend to many, passed unexpectedly on October 23 rd , 2021.
Charlie was born on August 7 th , 1967, at Wheeler Hospital in Gilroy CA, to his parents Joe and Mary Gonzales. He is survived by his mother Mary Gonzales, his son Evun Gonzales, and siblings: Angie Gonzalez, Esther Vaca, Virginia Valenzuela, Linda Chavez, Sylvia Muro, Ruben Gonzalez, and Arthur Gonzalez. He is also survived by generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Charlie, at the age of 20 embarked on a career as a construction painter. With over 30 years as a member of Local 507, Charlie was able to transition from apprentice to journeyman to eventually Forman. Over the years Charlie formed lasting relationships with many colleagues throughout the painting/drywall community. With over 30 years' experience, Charlie left his imprint with organizations such as Castro Painting, Pyramid Painting, and Magnum Drywall.
Charlie spent his time mastering the art of hunting, archery and took pride in scouting new terrain in search for the perfect "buck".
Charlies' personality and his outlook on life will forever be in hearts and always be remembered for giving those around him love, laughter and support.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at St. Mary's Church. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Gilroy.
