Obituary

Cesario (Cesar) Munoz Vasquez passed away from natural causes on Saturday, May 16th, 2020 at 69 years old.

Cesar was born in Rocksprings, Texas on October 7, 1950. His family emigrated to the United States in the 1960's to work in agricultural labor. Coming from humble beginnings, his family moved often. Like many migrant families, they traveled with the seasons where work led them, causing them to move to different locations across California and other Western states.  Cesar learned responsibility and hard work at a very young age. He went to work picking crops as a young boy and even held a paper route as an elementary student.

With hard work and determination, later, he became a star athlete graduating from Gilroy High School, class of 1969. Cesar was scouted by U.C Berkeley and offered a full athletic scholarship for wrestling at one of the best universities in the world. Cesar was well liked by his peers. He served as Senior Class president at Gilroy High. A position he was elected to after a friend unbeknownst to him submitted his name on the ballot.

As Cesar's collegiate career was coming to a close, Olympic recruiters invited him to try out for the U.S. team. He turned them down, stating, "All I wanted was my education, from a great school like Cal!" He brilliantly used his athletic talents to gain a formidable education, graduating with a double major in 1973.

After graduation, he was offered a leadership position at Bank of America. He quickly rose through the ranks to become an International Auditor and Airplane Loan Officer in his mid-twenties.  Cesar traveled throughout South America and the Caribbean for nearly 2 years and earned his pilot's license in the process. In 1989, he branched out as an entrepreneur and began working as a financial consultant. He specialized in mergers and acquisitions within the growing technological industry and launched his business under the name Growth Resources International.

In 1978, Cesar married his wife, Theresa Bettencourt. They would later move to Morgan Hill where Cesar built his dream home. His favorite project that loving became his lifelong residence of 30 plus years. He and Theresa started their family, as they shared in the birth of their daughters Andrea and Christina.

He worked tirelessly to achieve the true sentiment of his "American Dream."  In his lifetime, Cesar traveled to over 35 countries, sharing many wonderful adventures with friends and family. He enjoyed sports, nature, travel, anthropology, history, and culture. He loved spending time relaxing and enjoying weekend barbeque' s with friends and family.

Cesar's mantra was to "always try to be the best at what you are doing."   In many respects, he mastered this and adopted this philosophy in everything he did. He dedicated his life to providing his family the opportunities that he never had in his youth. He raised two beautiful daughters into strong women, teaching them to never back down from a challenge. Cesar is well respected and revered by his colleagues, friends and by his family for overcoming life's hardships to become a successful businessman, beloved friend, husband and father.

His eternal love and memory are carried on by his wife of 42 years, Theresa, and his two daughters, Andrea and Christina. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his loss is heartbreaking to his loved ones.  He leaves behind two brothers, Homer and Arturo, and two sisters, Irma and Olga and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by both his parents, Arturo and Rafaela Vasquez.
