Cecilia Root died peacefully at home at age 96. Predeceased by husband, Richard Root, sisters: Dolores McKeever, Berta Obregon, and Amparo Tarditi. Tia Cecilia will be missed by sister, Sara Laguera, brother, Alberto Contreras (Gloria) devoted nephew, Michael McKeever (Stephanie) nieces: Nora, Linda, (New York) Sarita, Amparita, Amparo, Elsa, Pachita, Adriana, (Mexico) Margaret, Cecilia, Marie, and Monica, (Minnesota) nephews: Roberto, Luis, Eduardo, Francisco, Alfonso, Carlos, and Alberto (Mexico).

Tia Cecilia embraced life with joy and kindness. She attended Gavilan College at 80+ to study journalism, tutored children and adults at El Roble School and Gavilan Tutoring Center, assisted with St. Joseph's lunch program for Day Workers, volunteered with "Promotores" from the Health Dept., collected and delivered supplies for the Tarahumara Hospital, and was an active member of the St. Mary Catholic Ladies.

We are grateful for the loving care from Christine, Katrina, Mary Ellen and all her beautiful devoted friends.

We will miss Tia Cecilia's love of life and the way she lived fully!
