Cecelia Palmira (Cunha) Berry, age 102, passed away at Pacific Hills Manor in Morgan Hill on February 16, 2013. She was born on Palm Sunday, March 20, 1910 to Mary and Manuel Cunha and grew up on the family ranch in the east foothills of Gilroy, Ca. She attended St. Mary's Convent School. She worked at the Milias Hotel in Gilroy until she married her husband William Berry in 1946. They made their home in Fresno. A few years after the death of her husband she moved back to the family ranch and lived with her first cousin, Gwen Gillott until her admission to Pacific Hills.
She is survived by many cousins, including Jeanne Garcia and husband Pete of Gilroy and their family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Helen and brother Phillip Cunha, and her cousin, Gwen Gillott, who passed away one week following Cece.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for Friday, March 8th 2013 at 1 :00 pm at St. Mary's Church in Gilroy, followed by a gathering at the family ranch on New Ave. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, St. Joseph's Family Center or a favorite charity.
