Caroline "Carrie" Escalante Mireles passed away in Santa Cruz, CA. on March 14, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born in Pacoima, CA on September 25, 1938 to Julian Garcia Escalante and Leanor Esquivel Escalante. She grew up in Watsonville, CA and was a graduate of Watsonville High School, class of 1955.
Carrie was a resident of Royal Oaks, CA. She worked in the apple orchards, as a scribe in a doctor's office, and at the Fox Theater in Watsonville. She eventually had a long term job as a Telephone Operator, where she retired after 26 years. Carrie then worked as an aide to the school psychologist for the Gilroy Unified School District.
Carrie is survived by her husband, Pete, of 63 years, their children, and spouses, Denise, (Barry) Brenda, Dominick (April), and Judy (Rich). As well as her eight grandchildren and their significant others, Cheryl (Brett), Julian (Natalie), Luke (Kathyrn), Michael (Rosie), Amanda (James), Christian, Miranda (Mitch), and Gannon, and three great grandchildren Brayden, Baylee, and Jack; and her siblings Ernesto, Bennie, and Connie. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her baby daughter Cheryl Renee, her brothers, Peter, Joe, Albert, Aaron, her sisters, Esther, Julia, Lupe, and other loved ones.
Carrie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother and was always there when her family needed her. Carrie was an extremely hard worker and a great provider for her family. She always made people welcome in a loving way. Carrie was a beautiful person inside and out. She always had a nice thing to say to anyone she met. Carrie enjoyed meeting new people and talking to them. She was loved by so many.
Carrie loved listening to music and dancing. She had a beautiful voice and liked to sing. Carrie enjoyed watching comedies on TV. She spent a lot of time going to see her grandchildren in their sports events and theater productions. Carrie was always helping others out. She was a great listener and enjoyed baking for the church and others. She was always very generous with her time and talents.
Carrie's catholic faith was very strong. She would continuously pray for others and encourage others to pray especially when times were tough. Carrie attended church on a regular basis and was very charitable.
Rosary at St. Mary's Catholic Church 11 1st St. Gilroy, CA on Tuesday, March 28th @ 9:30AM.
Funeral Mass will follow the rosary at 10:00AM at St. Mary's.
