Obituary

Carmen I. Van Horn, 80, died December 29, 2015, in Gilroy, CA.
Carmen Laubenheimer Van Horn was born in Richfield, WI, and grew up in Milwaukee. After she married, she lived in Michigan and Texas, before settling in Milpitas, CA, where she made her home for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading and attending Alum Rock Covenant Church. Before retiring, she worked for Santa Clara County Social Services Department. In later years, she moved to Hollister to be closer to family. Carmen was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family remembers her as warm, loving, caring, and involved. Moments with her grandchildren were especially dear to her. She passed on her great love of musicals to her family members, and delighted her family with her Scrabble skills and special carrot cake recipe.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marie and Millard Laubenheimer and brothers Luke, Judd and Owen. She leaves behind many who loved her: sisters Sandy (Wesley) Dietz, Rhea Miller; daughters Ann (Fred) Ditko, Christine Van Horn, Sandee (Jason) Kadluboski; grandchildren Lauren Shropshire, Connor Shropshire, Alex (Lacie) Smithee, Katie Smithee, Rachel Smithee, Beth Kadluboski; great-grandchildren Abilene, Braelynn, Genevieve, and Rodger.
