Obituary

Carlos Diaz Guajardo passed away on December 5, 2021 at the age of 76. He was born in El Paso, Texas. He moved to Gilroy with his family at the age of 16 in 1961. He is one of 11 siblings and the proud son of (deceased) parents, Margarito and Margarita Guajardo. He was a career furniture salesman for nearly 40 years, first at Great Western Furniture and later at Rosso's Furniture. In 2015, he and Sylvia retired and moved to Sacramento.

Carlos met his wife Sylvia, and they were married in 1979. The two merged two families together creating a home for their 9 children. They lived in their home on Welburn Avenue for many years which he was very proud of until the 1990's when they moved to the house of Wisteria Lane before moving and retiring to Sacramento. Carlos loved working in his yard, working on his roses and other flowers and plants; his garden and yard were a sight to see. In his spare time, he loved playing his guitar, especially when he was able to play and sing with his brothers. He developed his artistic side with drawing and eventually painting.  He was quite the artist!

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Margarita Guajardo, siblings Elvira (Armando) Duenas, Antonio Guajardo, Rosa Cardenas, Margarito Jr., and his son Fernie Sanchez.

He is survived by: his wife, Sylvia Guajardo. Children – Velia Guajardo-Codiga, Carlos Jr. Guajardo, Ruben Guajardo, Vivian Guajardo, Diana (Jeff) Bentz, Mark (Priscilla) Sanchez, Barbara Meyer, Mike (Debbi) Sanchez. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren who loving called him Papa. Siblings: María (Jorge) Baro, Santiago (Ellen) Guajardo, Tomas (Cindy) Guajardo, Delia (Edwin) Diaz, Myra (Danny) Carrillo, Dave (Anita) Guajardo. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well. Also, brother-in-law, Art Cardenas, and sisters-in-law, Tomasita Guajardo and Martha Guajardo.

Carlos loved it when the entire family was able to come together for the holidays and family events. He so missed his parents and siblings that preceded him in death. We are comforted knowing, they are now dancing and celebrating being together in heaven.

Funeral services at Habing Family Funeral Home on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the Veteran's Hall.
