Graveside services at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park are scheduled on Friday, May 28, at 1 pm from Habing Family Funeral Home for Bonnie K. McMillan, widow of Red (George R. Jr.) McMillan, who died on May 14 at the age of 97.

A native of Gilroy, after serving during WWII in the Naval Reserve, she and her family lived in Sacramento for many years, but returned in 1970 to assist in the care of her ailing parents, Thelma F. and Bernard M. Klink, until their passing.  She was well known in her Carmel Street neighborhood as being an avid gardener, and she also loved reading and playing Pedro and Gin Rummy.  She was a retired payroll reconciliator for Gilroy Foods.  In March of 2013, health issues resulted in her moving into assisted living, first at Merrill Gardens in Gilroy, and since October of 2018 she resided at Madonna Gardens in Salinas.

She is survived by her son Rusty (G.R.III) McMillan, his wife Mary Ellen Kane, and her son David Kane of Prunedale; Grandson Damian Kane of Fernley, NV; niece Diane Drummer of Brentwood; grandniece Courtney Caldwell of San Mateo.  She was the sister of Dorothy Gentry and Madge K. Moody, both deceased.  She was the aunt of the late Christina Caldwell.  She was a friend of Betty Steidley and Dora Risinger, both deceased.

The family suggests that those wishing to honor her memory donate to their favorite charity.
