Obituary

Reverend Billie Moore, 88, Gilroy, went to be with Jesus after a short illness from heart failure on December 30.  She is survived by her children, Mark Moore of Morgan Hill CA and Janice Baudat of Cornville AZ, a grandchild, Melody McClain of Carrollton TX, and a sister, Marjorie Baker of Oakley CA.

Born on August 15, 1929 in Center Point, Arkansas, to Willie and Irene Henry.  Billie Jo was the youngest of three siblings (brother James and Sister Marjorie).  Her family came to California shortly after the depression.  She met and married Warner Moore in 1947 and raised her children in Long Beach CA.  She was divorced in 1966 and raised her children as a single mother.  She joined the Long Beach Police Department as one of the few female officers at that time, working in the Records Department and for a short time as a Uniformed Officer, directing traffic.   She retired in 1980 the LBPD on disability from a fall suffered during her time on duty.

After her retirement, Billie Moore found her true vocation in serving the Lord.   Billie received the Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1977 at the Christian Life Church in Long Beach CA.  She graduated from Rhema Bible College in Tulsa OK in 1983 and became an Ordained Minister.   She then established her non-profit organization, Billie Moore Ministries, Inc. and operated as a Missionary and Evangelist.  Many people received Christ as their Lord, were baptized in the Holy Spirit and received physical healing as she prayed for them.  She continued her Ministry until 2014.   During her times as a minister, she worked with churches in Oklahoma, Long Beach, Antioch, Oakley, Auburn and Gilroy.   Many knew her as an intercessory Prayer Warrior, praying fervently for those in leadership at the churches she attended.  Working with the Rhema Ministries, she went on several missions to the Philippines in the 80's and 90's to help establish new churches from Pampanga to Visaya.   During her missions in the Philippines, many received miraculous healings including sight restored to the blind!  She worked with Women's Aglow, National Prayer Days, numerous Christian conferences and distributing food to the homeless in Gilroy.  For 20 years she served as a minister to those incarcerated in the Contra Costa County Correctional Facility in Martinez CA.   After moving to Gilroy in 2013, she continued to hold bible studies with the residents of Wheeler Manor.

Rev. Billie Moore was also a writer!  She wrote numerous poems, sermons, articles, stories and testimonials of her experiences on the mission field.  Some of these writings were published, but most remain with her family to be preserved as her legacy.

While Reverend Moore's Ministry was almost entirely a volunteer vocation, she supported her self by providing Home Health Care to others in Antioch, Oakley and Auburn CA from for over twenty years.   Her loving care for others continued until she was age 83!  Many of her clients were many years younger than she was.  Reverend Moore will be well remembered for her friendly smile, kind words she always had for everyone and deep devotion to the Lord.
