Obituary

On January 28, 2023 our beloved wife, mother, sister, Mama, Tita and dear friend took her last breath surrounded by her loved ones and husband of 52 years. She had fought like a warrior for many years with her heart condition, and from the outside looking in you would never know this strong and wonderful woman had any struggles at all.

Bertha was the heart and soul to her family and the light of her husband's life. Before her third open heart surgery she had made a joke to Jorge that he should go find another woman and he had told her "Till death do us part." Jorge had meant every word of that. They were inseparable, and it was not until Jorge gave Bertha her final kiss that she took her last breath. Their story was the truest of love stories.

Bertha and Jorge raised 4 amazing sons and were blessed with 14 grandchildren. All her sons would agree that it was thanks to their beloved mom and her strong but loving heart that they were kept in a straight line and grew to all be successful men. She was dedicated to giving her sons the tools to help them live happy and fulfilling lives. She had always made time to listen and gave the best guidance a son could ever ask for. She was known by many names to her grandchildren, and it never failed that her smile was as big as the sun when she would see them. She always made sure to let each of her grandchildren know they were loved and cherished. She was always supportive of her sons and grandchildren's dreams and aspirations no matter how farfetched they seemed. She wanted her children and grandchildren to be extraordinary. She was their biggest fan, always encouraging and never letting them settle for second best. Bertha kept her family together through the good days and the bad. She created a bond between her sons that will never be broken, and that is a promise they will all keep. She was loved by all and will forever be greatly missed. Not a day will go by that we will not think about what a warrior she was and all the wonderful things she brought to our lives.

Her unwavering love and devotion to her sons, grandchildren, and especially her husband will never be forgotten. Bertha, may you rest in peace knowing that you made a difference in all our lives and because of you we are better.
