Berta Julia Garibay, was graced by our heavenly father to live on Earth 74 years, 9 months and 14 days. Born in El Centro, California she moved to Gilroy and has been a resident since middle school until her passing on September 19th 2024. She is survived and will be missed by her children Jose Hernandez, Sandy Hernandez, Monica Begines, Armando Hernandez and Rocio Adame. She was also an abuelita of 12 grandchildren and a great grandmother of 6.  She has a large extended family. Her bother Nicholas Partida Sr., cousin Francisca Ruiz Prudencio and many nephews and nieces and community friends will dearly miss her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lauro Garibay and Catalina Prudencio and her brother Carlos Aranda and Sister Eustolia G. Prudencio.

Berta was kind and friendly to all who knew her. Berta took care of many of her children's friends when they were growing up by feeding them, giving them advice and yes even scolding them if they needed it, but it all came from love.

Berta constantly bought gifts for the grandchildren in her life -they were her joy.

She would stand up and argue for what was right. She enjoyed playing Bingo, working on puzzles and watching games shows.

Volunteering was closed to her heart as evident by the countless hours she donated at the salvation army thrift store and food banks in her later years.

She delighted in the success of her children and was so proud of all of them. To know her was indeed to love her. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Until we see you again Momma. We were all blessed to love you for so many years.
