Obituary

Benjamin (Ben) Kenneth Anderson, a life long photography enthusiast, passed away on January 18, 2025, in Tampa, Florida.

Ben is survived by his parents, Juan and Linda Anderson of Santa Maria, CA, his wife, Allison Hodgdon Anderson of Ruskin, FL, his son and his son's wife, Reese and Brittany Anderson, of Ventura, CA, and his sister, Kris Anderson, of Santa Maria, CA. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kaytlin Anderson.

Ben was born on August 23, 1965, in Salinas, CA to Juan and Linda Anderson. He spent his youth in Santa Maria with his sister and friends, achieving the rank of an Eagle Scout during his time on the Boy Scouts. He graduated from Righetti High School in 1983. He spent many years working in outdoor equipment sales for companies such as STIHL and Maruyama. Ben had two wonderful children, Kaytlin and Reese, who were the most important parts of his life.

Ben was a loving husband, devoted father, and avid photographer. He enjoyed reading, working on his Jeep, and fishing. Ben had a servant's heart and enjoyed volunteering when he could. Ben spent many a summer volunteering at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, from working parking to throwing garlic bread in Gourmet Alley. He had the opportunity to be a civil servant on the planning commission for the city of Gilroy, and he loved writing, and wrote letters to the editor in the Gilroy Dispatch. Ben was a member of the Fraternal Brotherhood of E Clampus Vitus, and was a committed member to chapter 1846.

Ben married his wife Allison in Tempe, AZ, where they would spend most of their married life until they moved to Ruskin, FL. Allison shared that Ben was an amazing partner, and added, "The mold has been broken." She spoke of his compassion and unconditional love, that was "to the 9's." She promised Ben since day one to be there for him and see his journey to the end. They had dreamt of moving to Florida one day, and when things aligned and the time came, they did not hesitate.

In Florida, he was able to enjoy three wheel motorcycling, and they loved riding the Canam Spyder and Slingshot bikes together with their dog, Daisy. Allison kept her promise and cherishes the 19 years of memories they shared.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who have known him.
