Sardarni Balbir Kaur Sandhu was born on July 10 ^th , 1926 to Sardar Thakur Singh and Sardarni Labh Kaur in the village of Vehgal, Lahore; before the partition of India. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Sunday, October 15 ^th , 2017 at her home, 733 Piercy Road, in San Jose. She was married to Sardar Shingara Singh Sandhu. She was preceded in death by her husband and two of her sons, Sardar Parminder Singh and Sardar Sampuran Singh. She leaves behind two daughters and one son as well as many grandchildren.

She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.
