IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur "Artie"
Marquez
September 2, 1957 – October 25, 2022
Arthur (Artie) Marquez was born in Hollister, CA on September 2, 1957. He is proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Mary Marquez, brothers Arnold Jr (Butch), Steve, and Randy Marquez, nephew Donald Prieto and grandson Fernando Sanchez. Artie is survived by his daughter's Lisa and Angelina Marquez, Adriana (Frank) Salmeron, Amy (Gabriel) Hernandez, and Jessica (Juan) Zepeda. His 11 grandchildren, Xzavier, Zayla, Francisco, Joseph, Alexzandria, Maxine, Alexia, Angelique, Mya, Annalicia, and Arianna. Great grandchildren Camila and Anthony. His wife Mary Marquez and his sisters Linda Perez and Marie (Joe) Munoz.
Artie was a big kid at heart, was known to be the life of every party. His biggest accomplishment in life was being a grandfather, aka "Grandpa Artie". He even referred to himself as "Grandpa Artie". He loved to be outdoors, working as a Handyman, driving fast, taking his grandkids on wild adventures and his grandsons to Giants games. Grandpa Artie was known to some of his grandchildren's friends and loved spending time teaching them about life. Grandpa Artie also loved working in the yard daily. He was the king of collecting antiques and junk. He enjoyed being with family as much as possible, as well as cruising around with his grandkids in his Silverado "Sylvia." He lived on the wild side, enjoyed life to the fullest and spent his time focusing on his many hobbies and projects.
Grandpa Artie grew up in Gilroy, Ca on the family wrecking yard. He moved to Salinas 42 years ago when he first started working for Alambra delivering bottled water. Over the past 20 years he had a small Handyman business and was known to many in his community. He loved working with his hands and physically building a life he loved. He enjoyed the work he did and those he met along the way. Those who knew him will have their own stories to tell and will always remember him for his kindness and crazy sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the hematology and Oncology team (Dr. Gabriel Mannis, Dr. William Shomali), and Oncology nurses at Stanford Hospital for their support and compassionate care they gave to Grandpa Artie.
Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend, we will miss you so much!
"Never give up, it's a sign of weakness" Grandpa Artie
