youth his family settled in Gilroy. As a young widower who tragically lost his wife Rachel and two young
sons, he then met his lifelong companion to be, Dora. Art worked at Safeway for 42 years. Seemingly
inseparable, Dora and Art worked together for the last 18 years before retiring to their home in
Fremont.
Art was a self-taught master builder, always keeping busy on home projects or spending countless hours
helping family members with their own projects. With Dora, he enjoyed all forms of dancing, most
notably Square Dancing. Art and Dora enjoyed t raveling, especially taking cruises with their friends.
Both were active for 38 years in Club Estrella which raised money to support youth scholarships. He
loved reading and watching Westerns, especially the old classics.
Known for his quiet dignity and generosity, Art's greatest joy were his grandchildren, great
grandchildren and all his nieces and nephews. He delighted in holding them, walking with them, and
watching them grow from infants to young adults. They all will remember him with love and miss him
dearly.
