Anthony (Tony) Valdez of Gilroy, CA passed away on October 11, 2017 after a very short battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep with his wife at his side, at the age of 55.
Tony was born in Gilroy, CA on Feb. 28, 1962 to the parents of Victor Valdez, Sr. and Anna De La Rosa. He enjoyed playing baseball and following the San Francisco Giants. Tony loved spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved taking bike trips with his wife and friends.
Tony served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman from 1980 – 1983. He was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ before serving overseas in Germany and Greece. He then worked as a guard at Soledad Prison for nine yrs. He later became a truck driver and had been working for Robinson Oil Corp. for the past 20 years.
Tony was a member of the American Legion Post 217 of Gilroy and the Patriot Guard Riders. He was also a proud supporter of the CVMA (Combat Veteran's Motorcycle Assoc.)
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Gayle; son, Anthony Valdez of N. Hollywood, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Elizabeth Dirks of Hollister, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Aimee Zimmerman of Murrieta, CA; five grandchildren, Mason, Lanie, and Lily Zimmerman, and Nicole and Colton Dirks; siblings, Victor Valdez, Jr., Joyce Valdez Ybarra, and Eugene Valdez. Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Valdez and his parents, Anna and Victor Valdez, Sr.
A celebration of life will be held at the Gilroy Veteran's Hall on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 1-5 pm. The Hall is located at 74 W. 6 th Street in Gilroy, CA.
