Dr. Amado Guevara, 89, passed away on February 28th in Gilroy, CA after a prolonged illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Amado was born in 1925 in the town of Barili located in the Cebu Province of the Philippines. After graduating from medical school, he immigrated to the United States in the early 1950's to pursue his medical career. Dr. Guevara had a long successful career as an Orthopedic Surgeon with Kaiser Permanent Medical Centers in Santa Clara and Riverside, where he touched many people's lives.


Amado was a hard-working, caring, and devoted man. His family will fondly remember him for his spontaneous trips to Lake Tahoe to play blackjack. His many hobbies included tinkering in his workshop, working on his computers, following his favorite sports team, the San Jose Sharks, photographing his family, traveling, and eating junk food on occasion, such as donuts and ice cream.


Amado is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Michelle, son Matthew and daughter Amanda. He is preceded in death by his first wife Antonia and his son William. He is survived by their sons David, Francis (Lorraine), James, Andrew (Michele), Philip and his grandchildren Lauren, Katharine, Mark, Amber and Anthony Jacob (AJ), Guevara family members here in the United States and the Philippines and lastly, Larry David (brother of Antonia) . Amado will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend by his family and all those close to him.
