Obituary

Alexis Zabbia Davis, 39, of Monterey, CA abruptly passed away last year during a surgical procedure at Stanford Hospital on October 12th, 2020. Alexis was born and raised in Levittown, NY.  She met her husband Michael Davis, of Gilroy, CA while studying abroad in 2002.  She graduated from NYIT with a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management and Associates Degree in Culinary Arts.

Alexis was the Director of Catering and Conference Services at The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa.  She loved working with brides, grooms as well as business professionals; always leaving a lasting positive impression and cultivating friendships along the way.

Alexis was very proud of her twin girls Emma Lynn and Sofia Marie, born on January 19, 2017 at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula.  She loved to live life to the fullest including weekend adventures with the kids, attending various functions and she was always planning getaways with family and friends just to name a few.

Alexis loved all aspects of the culinary arts.  Whether traveling out of state or staying local, she enjoyed tasting new dishes and recreating them at home.  Cooking was Alexis' way of telling stories, passed down from her Italian roots.  Each bite not just tasting exquisite, but offering comfort as well.  Everyone loved getting spoiled by her wide range of cooking styles.

Alexis was fond of the outdoors; riding bikes on the Monterey coastal path with twins in tow, going for hikes throughout Carmel and Big Sur, and picnics on the beach while watching Emma & Sofia play in the sand were some of her favorites.  She also enjoyed regularly taking the girls to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, My Museum and walks to Via Paraiso Park.

Alexis will always hold a special place in the hearts of those that knew her.  She had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up any room.  She was born to be a leader; proud of her work and she always climbed up through the corporate ranks.  Alexis was and continues to be a great role model to her twin girls.

Alexis was very transparent with her struggles conceiving, battling stage IV endometriosis and was always quick to refer her dream team of doctors to anyone who may be struggling.  The birth of Emma & Sofia was nothing short of a miracle; and they were her pride and joy.  She loved her girls so much and was always quick to take a knee to give them the biggest, warmest hugs whenever she returned from being away.

Alexis lived a very healthy lifestyle and became concerned when she noticed some facial swelling while on vacation September 2020.  After numerous tests and imaging, she was ultimately diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive NETT, Neuroendocrine Tumor of the Thymus.  The tumor had grown through her heart and her team of surgeons at Stanford did everything they could to prolong life so she could have more time with her family.

Alexis was the backbone of her family.  She is deeply missed and will never be forgotten.  Alexis will always live in their hearts and she continues to watch over her beautiful girls from Heaven.

Alexis is survived by her husband Michael Davis, daughters Emma Lynn and Sofia Marie, parents Alexander & Rosemarie Zabbia of Sarasota FL, brother Robert (Joey) Zabbia of Dix Hills NY, sister Dawn (Shawn) Austin of Cape May NJ, mother-in-law Deborah Davis of Gilroy CA and sister-in-law Leslie Davis of South San Francisco CA, Nephews Daniel Zabbia and Chase Austin, Nieces Jessica Zabbia and Mikella Austin, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
