Abel DeLeon passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loved ones at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose. Mr. DeLeon was born in Mixtlan, Jalisco, Mexico to parents Leopoldo and Simona DeLeon. Abel was married to Ysaura Duenas in 1962 and migrated to the United States to start their famly. Father of Alonzo, Maribel, Sonia, Veronica and Hector DeLeon all of Gilroy. Grandfather of 23. Great-grandfather of 10. Brother of Justo DeLeon, Estella Edwards, Abuldio DeLeon, Rafaella Escudero and Catalina Villagrana and the late Marina DeLeon. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Abel had many friends and will be greatly missed.

Mr. DeLeon was employed by Gilroy Foods for 20 years before retiring. Abel loved to have family gatherings, barbecue's, watch boxing and sporting events. Abel also liked to fish and hunt.

Vigil Friday, February 17, 2012 – 6:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home with Visitation to begin at 12:00 PM.


Funeral Mass Saturday February 18, 2012 – 12:00 Noon at St. Mary's Church.

Burial will follow.
