Judy Plicka was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt. She is survived by her Father, Joseph Albert Plicka and her siblings Joseph Lee Plicka (Sally), Susan Vares (Kenneth), Patrick Plicka (Alyssa), and Timothy Plicka (Brenda), who miss her greatly. She is predeceased by her mother, Mildred Plicka. She also has six nieces and nephews and sixteen great-nieces and nephews.

Judy was born in Berwyn, IL. She moved with her family to Saratoga, CA in 1966. She graduated from Saratoga High School in 1972 and then went on to earn both an undergraduate and graduate degree from UC Berkeley, studying comparative literature and classics. After she retired from teaching English and Spanish at Newark Memorial High School (Newark, CA), she was able to devote much more time to music. Judy loved music of all kinds and played guitar, bass and ukulele. She played in a number of different ensembles over the years. She was a magnetic and colorful character both inside and out. Her faith in Jesus Christ provided her great calm and comfort and was a guide to her life.

Judith will be laid to rest at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, CA during a private burial. A celebration of her life, open to family and friends, will be held at Beth-El Baptist Church (US 101 & Tennant Ave. in Morgan Hill, CA) on Monday June 12 at 1:30pm.
